Minutes of February 8th, 2021, Council Meeting

The Missouri City, Missouri, City Council held their monthly open meeting at the MCCA Building on Monday, February 8th, 2021, at 7:00 pm.  Attending:  Mayor Barry Moore, Clerk Monte Railey, and Council members Joe Selle, Sydney Stewart, Rockne Gross and Micah Schake.

Mayor Moore called the meeting to order.  Minutes of the January, 11th, 2021, monthly meeting were read and approved.  Financial reports e-mailed by the Treasurer prior to the meeting were discussed and approved.

Councilman Gross made a motion to authorize payment that was seconded by Councilwoman Stewart.  The motion passed 4-0.

 

Old Business

Water Project:  The Pre-closing and Pre-construction meetings were held on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at the MCCA Building.  Contracts for construction and interim financing were signed.  Construction officially began on February 1st, 2021.  Materials for the project have been delivered.  Letters were mailed to all water customers advising of the schedule and encouraging them to prepare for sporadic outages during construction.  Mayor Moore has marked all current lines throughout town. When possible, new lines will be laid on top of existing pipe.  The Mayor will monitor construction and maintain a log of material use for the duration of construction.

Online Water Bill Payment: After information sharing and discussion, Councilman Gross made a motion to offer an online payment option to interested parties.  The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Stewart and passed 4-0.  Collector Brandon Gray will provide necessary forms from the service used by Orrick, Missouri.

2021 City Clean Up Days:  Three (3) forty yard dumpsters will be placed at the City Barn on Friday, April 23rd, and picked up Monday, April 26th.

April 6, 2021 Municipal Election Status: The City Clerk confirmed the City Ballot was filed with the Clay County Election Board on January 25, 2021.  He reported that no candidates filed for the Ward One Council seat.  Write-in protocol provided by election Commissioner Patty Lamb was explained to the Council by the City Clerk.

Pothole Repair:  The Mayor reported that pothole repairs will resume as weather allows.

Curbside Trash Pickup Concerns:  Concern was expressed about Wednesdays when trash has not been collected in hilly parts of town due to weather issues.  The contract will be reviewed to verify how inclement weather is addressed.

New Business

No new business was discussed.

The next monthly Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the MCCA Building.

Councilwoman Stewart made a motion to adjourn that was seconded by Councilman Schake.  Meeting adjourned.
