Minutes of March 12th, 2018, Council Meeting

The Missouri City, Missouri City Council held their monthly open meeting at the MCCA Building on Monday, March 12th, 2018 at 7:00 pm.  Attending:  Mayor Barry Moore, City Treasurer Lisa Webber, City Clerk Monte Railey, Water Bill Collector Brandon Gray and Council members Joe Selle, Micah Schake, Rocky Gross and Sydney Stewart.   Also in attendance:  Wilbur Webber, Sophia Betterton, Teresa Mckown and Brian Adcock.

Mayor Moore called the meeting to order.

Minutes from the February 12th, 2018, meeting and February 2018 financial reports were read and approved.

Bills to be allowed: Paid 3/12/18 unless noted otherwise.

Kearney Trust Account

(2/16/18) AGC Engineering – $325.25 Invoice 01-2018-29 Water Project

General Funds

(2/16/18) Advance Auto Parts – $3,150.00 transmission repair on City truck

Councilman Schake made a motion to authorize payments.  The motion was seconded by Councilman Gross and carried 4-0.

Old Business

Water Project – The USDA loan was approved on 3/2/2018.  An archeological study conducted by K&K Environmental of Leavenworth, KS, found no obstacles on the projected path.  The Council authorized Mayor Moore to sign a “Letter of Condition” regarding the loan via motion made by Councilman Gross.  It was seconded by Councilwoman Stewart and carried 4-0.  The Mayor will meet with Jana Brant with the USDA to review the content of the letter at a date yet to be determined.

Mayor Moore confirmed that new street signs will be installed to replace missing signs and to reflect changes to speed zones.

City Hall – A bid was received to complete exterior repairs to City Hall.  The issue was tabled for further review and discussion.

Water Pressure-  Ward Four residents expressed concerns about low water pressure since the temporary shut down on March 9th.  Mayor Moore advised the gathering that water pressure is slowly being restored to normal after the valve repair to ensure lines don’t blow but will reportr the issue to Waterworks COO Rex Brinker.  The situation will be monitored.

New Business

Residents reported problems hearing the emergency siren during last week’s seasonal test.  Mayor Moore will report the situation to the Emergency Weather Management group for investigation.

The next Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Monday, April 16th, 2018, at the MCCA Building.
