New Business

Barry Moore was sworn in as Mayor and Mickey Stewart as Ward One Councilman by the City Clerk for two year terms.

The new Council then appointed Jan Kohl to fulfill the term as Ward Three Councilwoman at-Large through the term that expires in April of 2025.  She was then sworn in by the Clerk.

Miles Jackson reported continuing leaks and water run off into his building on Main Street from the adjacent Fishing River Fire District building.  Mayor Moore explained that although the city owns the building, the lease calls for the fire district to be responsible for maintenance.  The Mayor will address the issue with Fire Chief Gene Walker.

Mayor Moore advised the group of the tragic death of former Ward Three Councilman Rocky Gross.  The Council discussed a donation in his honor to his preferred charity of Habitat for Humanity.  The issue was tabled until the May meeting for a final discussion and vote.

Councilwoman Kohl asked if information regarding the May 6th parade and the April 28th city clean up weekend are listed on the city website.  It was agreed to add calendar items to future agendas.

The next monthly meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 8th, 2023, at 7;00 pm in the MCCA Building.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Monte Railey – City Clerk
